European Heritage Days 2024 - Routes, Networks, and Connections
Join Château de Valmer for the 41st edition of the European Heritage Days on the theme "Routes, Networks, and Connections"!
Here is a theme that encourages reconnecting with nature in the gardens of Valmer.
Château de Valmer is located on the Loire Valley Châteaux route, a vast trail extending from Nantes to Gien. This weekend is the perfect opportunity to stop by Château de Valmer and explore its 5 hectares of 16th-century Renaissance gardens, awarded the ‘Remarkable Garden’ label. Discover its one-hectare conservatory vegetable garden, 60-hectare historic park, and 36-hectare vineyard, and admire the subtle geometry where the two main axes, North-South and East-West, define the architecture overlooking the landscape.
Program:
- Saturday and Sunday at 3:30 PM: Thematic guided tour "Reconnecting with nature - plants that benefit us."
- All weekend: Free visit of the 5 hectares of gardens labeled 'Remarkable Garden' and wine tasting at the Château.
- Exhibition: "On the Surface" by Mélissande Herdier and Marilou Turmeau.
- Garden Game: Family Escape Game in the gardens for ages 7 and up.
Saturday and Sunday at 3:30 PM
Thematic guided tour "Reconnecting with nature - plants that benefit us."
Through the tour of the conservatory vegetable garden, discover medicinal plants that have been used for centuries to heal and bring well-being. With the return of "natural" ways of self-care, learn about the history of these plants that brighten our daily lives.
Exhibition
"On the Surface" by Mélissande Herdier and Marilou Turmeau
Exploring the symbiosis between earth, mineral, and plant life, this artistic event reveals the richness of the rural wine landscape. From the vine to the mineral components of the terroir, each particle contributes to a living landscape.
Artists Mélissande Herdier and Marilou Turmeau invite us on a sensory journey where rock, roots, and lees weave the story of this land shaped by man and time. By transcending the boundaries between nature and artificiality, the exhibition performs a subtle transfer of materials from the environment to the exhibition space. Elements of the terroir, harvested and presented for viewing, on the surface, offer a harmonious dialogue between wine heritage and contemporary creation.
