A family history
The Count and the Countess of Saint Venant still inhabit the premises. Their son, Jean de Saint Venant, represents the new generation of this long lineage of passionate owners.
A common passion for excellence drives the Saint Venant family to unite the destinies of gardens and wines.
Paul Lefèvre, great-grandfather of the current owner, discovered the Valmer estate and bought it in 1888. Successive generations have since restored and embellished it relentlessly.
Adhémar and Renée de Saint Venant will manage the estate wisely then, after years of captivity during the war, Jean-Claude and Sylviane will have to face the tragedy of the castle fire. They opened the site to visitors in 1980.
Since their marriage in 1972, Aymar and Alix have been passionate about Valmer. Aymar takes over the abandoned vineyard and decides to replant it. Alix, for her part, rediscovered the original plan of the 17th century; she became a landscape gardener and began to restore the gardens. A new adventure can begin.
In 2009, their son Jean took over the torch, extended the vineyard, modernized the cellars and refined the methods of cultivation. The sixth generation, for the moment, is making sand pies and discovering the joy of picking strawberries in the vegetable garden!
